Volkswagen Oil Filters

Oil filters are devices which remove contaminants in hydraulic oil, engine oil, lubricating oil, and transmission oil. Typical pressurized lubrication systems contain relief valves through which oil bypass the oil filters. If there is a high flow restriction, the oil protects your engine from starvation. A clogged oil filter can allow a filter bypass to occur. The position of the filters allows oil to drain. An anti-drain back valve prevents the oil from leaving the filter once you shut down the engine.
